we know it’s been a while that we travelled to Sardegna our second home in Italy but plenty of university stuff we were quite busy.
Few months ago, exacatly last September Fabio and I travelled to Stintino, located in the north-west of the wonderful island of Sardegna.
It was a quite spontaneous trip and we decided to test the 3*** Club Hotel Ancora Stintino whose online ratings were really good regarding the rooms, service and especially its food offer and location. Some of the guests think that the hotel should have 4****, so we decided to convince ourselves.
Alitalia brought us from Dusseldorf Int. to the Airport of Alghero in a few hours where we took the bus for 6€ to get directly to our hotel in Stintino.
Arrived in the hotel the staff provided us with an extra prepared dinner because it was almost 11pm and the restaurant was closed. Unfortunately, the hotel was fully-booked (although it was lower season) and we had to sleep for the first night in a family-appartement (booked a double room). The weather was really good and we took two bicicles (included in our stay!) to the wonderful and famous La Pelosa Beach.
In addition to the bicicles one can choose a free shuttle service to get either to the beach or to the city centre.
Since the hotel is a Club Hotel you have the possibility to use the pool of the Yacht Club close to the beach. We stayed there as well for some hours.
For my birthday Fabio and I had breakfast in room (additional service fee: 5€ per person) and afterwards we decided to book a catamaran tour to see some other spots of Sardegna. The hotel staff provided us with necessary information AND they also brought us to the port and collected us their after the trip!
The costs of the daytrip including lunch (spaghetti ai frutti di mare + water and wine) were 65€ per person. It was the most special birthday I have ever had! The skipper showed us wild and lonely bays around the Asinara Nationalpark.
Now some words to the accomodation and food:
We stayed in a Superior room, which was furnished with a large and modern bathroom with raindrop shower and smelly amenities, a private terrace, flat screen tv, air condition AND free Wi-Fi!!!
The house keeping cleaned our room everyday and changed our towels daily as well!
Since we stayed in half board, we had breakfast and dinner. The breakfast was plenty of fresh fruits, Italian Cornetti & Brioss, different types of bread, cornflakes & müsli, (scrambled) eggs and local cold cuts and of course different Caffè specialities, juices, milk and water.
The dinner was rich: 1st you could choose whatever you want from the antipasti buffet, as first course you could choose between different types of pasta (we didn’t like them, because they were offered from the buffet (= warmed up), but our favorite was the second course consisting of fresh fish or meat cooked in a open kitchen located on the terrace.
Unfortunately, you have to get and order the food by your own! The waiters just serve the beverage and clear up the dishes and tables..
All in all we had 5 amazing days in this beautiful located hotel thanks to the kind staff, good food and our nice room. Our evaluation is that the hotel has to improve its restaurant service (e.g. fresh pasta, longer opening hours and a full restaurant service instead of self service to be a 4**** hotel!)
